To bring the journey to the people and stimulate their own interpretation to explore limitless experience.


Our living public realm varies in scale from global urban cities to local communities. At traditional perception, architecture usually is seen as provision of enclosure for weather protection to people for use of different purposes. When given specific functions for a large mixed-use development, we see retail as the key complicated element yet effective connector given its high sensitivity to human behavior. Retail posts an expeditiously evolving living environment. With advancing technology to reduce cost and overcome geographical difficulties, online business has flourished as the new trend, in tag with new generations in social media. In uprising competition, traditional brick and mortar retail has been struggling to survive. Trade mix composition has shifted to more service and experience orientated. Recent pandemic raise health concern and wellbeing. Requirement on social distancing has further speed up the evolution of cybernation. Online trading platforms create new living circles with essential functions that spread its influence and become indispensable for daily living of all generations. In simultaneous online living, desire for human interaction and travelling to different physical environment escalates as a result of rebound from the long suppression under geographical restrictions. We design simultaneously along the two paths to create journeys of a variety of scale in the new social and living norm. Our design for a life-style mall in the subtropical city, Xiamen of China create meaningful indoor and outdoor interactive spaces and functions. Through emerging local culture and environment, layers of paths are generated and interlinked, connecting people in the community. We bring the journey to the people and stimulate their own interpretation to explore limitless experience.
